Addressing Burnout & Honoring Our Limits
Overview
Addressing Burnout and Honoring Our Limits While Engaging in Peer Work through Practices of Collective Care
To sustain our individual and collective commitment to the inarguably invaluable and generative nature of peer work, it is important to confront and remedy experiences of accumulated fatigue and burnout! Oftentimes, exhaustion and burnout are treated as individual moral failings. But the antidote to burnout is not admonishment; the cure is care (the kind that is born from the collective) and information (data that helps us understand how to recover).
Workshop Objectives: During this two-hour workshop, leadership coach & facilitator Yejin Lee will help participants to:
- Understand the roots, shapes, and expressions of fatigue and burnout with precision;
- Identify, honor, and protect the limits of their body and minds while experiencing burnout;
- Utilize a framework that surfaces individualized strategies for recovery through care;
- Explore practical ways to build an interdependent web of care (e.g., using a “care menu” template that makes burnout recovery a collective care experience)
