The addictions counselor utilizing the harm reduction approach will provide SUD assessment, education, counseling on substance use disorders, chemical dependency, relapse prevention, and anger management/coping skills, to high school students (and their families) within a BCPS (Baltimore City Public Schools) during the school day. The counselor will conduct individual/group therapy and will collaborate on the student's treatment/progress with the school's administration (counselors, social worker, psychologist, therapist, and other school support staff) to provide a holistic treatment approach.
Conduct addiction counseling sessions using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students dealing with substance use disorder.
- Collect and analyze data to track client progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Engage in case management activities to ensure clients receive comprehensive care.
- Collaborate with school staff and community resources to provide holistic care.
- Offer counseling services to students and families affected by substance use disorder within the home community

Experience:
Addiction counseling: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
CAC-AD, CSC-AD, or ADT (Required)
Ability to Commute:
Baltimore, MD 21215 (Required)
Strong understanding of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles.
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques.
- Ability to collect and analyze data to inform treatment decisions.
- Competency in case management practices.
- Familiarity with adolescent/youth and family counseling approaches.
- Previous experience working with adolescents/youth is a plus.
