The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) at Angel Hands Healthcare & Behavioral Health provides peer recovery support services in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of providers that provide comprehensive and integrated treatment to individuals with substance use disorders. The CPRS serves as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals to help prevent disengagement from treatment, relapse and promote long-term recovery.

Responsibilities

Establish authentic peer-to-peer relationships with clients enrolled at Angel Hands addiction treatment services; providing recovery education and support as clients move through the various phases (pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization and sustained recovery maintenance).

Facilitate weekly peer support groups that promote self-advocacy and allow clients a voice and a forum in which they can express their point of view, share experiences, and communicate their preferences.

Collaborate with the program’s leadership, providers, and support staff to develop a culture where client’s point of view and experiences are respected and understood.

Facilitate thorough personal coaching and the development of a self-directed recovery plan.
Ensures clients complete their routine ASI, Intake packets, SNAP, and/or other assessments.
Serve as liaison between Alumnus, Clinical Supervisors, Center Directors, and Practice Managers.

Meet new clients during their first 2 weeks of treatment.

Calls to clients when they are a no show to scheduled clinical or medical services to foster re-engagement in the treatment program.

Contacts client alumni for the first 90 days post-treatment and documents contact.

Attends daily IOP groups to support clinical group process, focusing on recovery tools and resources, and demonstrating a lived recovery experience. Assist in linking clients to community recovery resources.

Conduct phone contacts and schedule times to meet with Angel Hands clients who reside at sober living homes to assist with providing additional community resources.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent.

Worked for at least 1-year, full time, or part time, paid or voluntary work experience.

Must understand and respect for everyone’s unique path to recovery and must have a working knowledge of the drug and alcohol treatment system and demonstrated commitment to the recovery community.

Must have 3 years of continuous abstinence.
