The History of Maryland’s Peer Movement

Participants will learn to:

• Understand the origins of the peer movement by discussing institutional bias and historic events that occurred on both a statewide and national level.
• List examples of achievements in Maryland’s peer movement and examine how these correlate with the values and ethics of peer support.
• Identify key leaders in Maryland’s peer support movement and explain how their contributions tie into systems advocacy.
• Explore how current projects and recent achievement correlate with the principles of  empowerment.
