Greetings, Maryland Credentialed Registered Peer Supervisors,
The Maryland Addiction and Behavioral-health Professionals Certification Board (MABPCB) is required to adopt the newly developed IC&RC minimum standards for the Registered Peer Supervisor (RPS) credential PR-S Standards. These changes support the universal standardization and reciprocity of PEER RECOVERY - SUPERVISOR credentialing requirements.
Effective November 1, 2026, MABPCB will pause the acceptance of initial RPS applications.
For individuals who currently hold an active Maryland RPS credential, a grandfathering—also referred to as a legacy—process will begin during Fiscal Year 2027. Current RPS credential holders will have an opportunity to transition under the new standards.
Additional information will be sent directly by email and will include:
- Listening session dates
- Notification regarding legacy or grandfathering eligibility for current RPS credential holders
- Transition requirements, instructions, and applicable costs
Current RPS credential holders should ensure their contact information and email address are current with MABPCB and continue maintaining their credential in good standing.
