Credibility & Choice: The Impact on Treatment Decisions

Overview

Perceived credibility impacts us in more ways than we know. Whether it be our interactions with our loved ones, our employers or our health care providers. It can change the options provided to us and drastically change the trust between a consumer and provider. Join us as we discuss the impacts that perceived credibility has on an individual and their supporters. Participants should expect to engage in discussions.

Goals & Objectives

1. Participants will understand the harm that lack of choice has on individuals seeking services/care.

2. Participants will leave with an understanding of what credibility is, and how it impacts relationships between providers and those seeking care.

3. Participants will see examples of how perceived credibility played a role in different individuals behavioral health care experiences.

3. Participants will leave with a knowledge of how to sit with discomfort when supporting someone who is making a decision they do not agree with.
