Registered Peer Supervisor Refresher Course

Overview

The RPS Refresher Course is a 6-hour continuing education training designed for Registered Peer Supervisors seeking to renew their RPS status every two years. Grounded in the Jordan Peer Recovery Training Manual for Peer Recovery Supervision, this course reinforces and deepens the supervisory knowledge, skills, and ethical responsibilities essential to leading peer recovery specialist staff effectively.

Participants revisit core supervisory functions across five MABPCB competency domains: Advocacy, Ethical Responsibility, Mentoring and Education, Recovery and Wellness, and Harm Reduction/Supervisor Core Competencies. Topics include the 11 supervisory tasks of the peer supervisor role, the three types of supervision, strength-based and person-centered supervisory approaches, the 25 Pillars of Peer Support and 5 Pillars of Peer Specialist Supervision, establishing and maintaining personal and professional boundaries, HIPAA and confidentiality in supervision, trauma-informed supervisory practice, recognizing relapse and risk indicators in peer staff, recruiting and hiring peer recovery professionals, and professional development planning.

This refresher is required for all MABPCB Registered Peer Supervisors and is designed to keep supervisors grounded in best practices, current in their knowledge, and equipped to support the peer recovery workforce at the highest level.
