Harm Reduction Mental Health Wellness and CPR

Overview

Training provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of Harm Reduction, Mental Health Wellness, and Mental Health CPR through a trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approach. Participants will learn practical strategies to reduce the acute harms associated with substance use, respond to behavioral health crises, and support individuals with compassion and dignity while “meeting people where they are.”

Topics include overdose prevention and naloxone administration, drug checking and fentanyl awareness, syringe access programs, medications for opioid and alcohol use disorder, suicide awareness, trauma-informed care, stigma reduction, emotional wellness, and crisis intervention techniques. The training also introduces Mental Health CPR principles to help participants recognize emotional distress, de-escalate crisis situations, and connect individuals to appropriate supports and community resources.

Training combines education, role-playing, wellness activities, and hands-on practice to strengthen participants’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in supporting individuals impacted by substance use and mental health challenges.
