Peer Support for Problem Gambling: The Hidden Addiction

Overview

Summary:

Through shared stories, mutual respect, and empowerment, peer support specialists help others to seek and maintain engagement in their recovery, striving to reduce the likelihood of relapse.  This training will provide insight and increase awareness of Gambling Disorder, specifically how this diagnosis is often co-occurring with other substance use and mental health disorders.  We will examine how providing peer services for the problem gambler can differ from other addictive disorders.  The Center’s Certified Peer Recovery Specialist’s will share personal insights and an overview of peer support for the problem gambler.
