Understanding & Supporting a MAT Pathway

Overview

Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, combined with counseling, to treat substance use disorders. Research has proven the effectiveness of MAT, and treatment experts endorse it. A variety of barriers have prevented the widespread acceptance, and in some cases, the use of MAT. The goal of this course is to educate individuals on MAT and promote the advocacy efforts for the use of evidence-based recovery, such as MAT, and best practices to support individuals that may choose this pathway.
